About The Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Data Scientist at the Assistant Manager or Manager level to join our dynamic Simulation & Insights team. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work at the forefront of data science, artificial intelligence, and decision modeling, supporting organizations in making high-impact, data-driven decisions. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and deploying advanced models that optimize operations, inform strategic planning, and solve complex business challenges.

This position is hybrid, based in London, offering a competitive salary ranging from £50,000 to £80,000 depending on experience, along with performance bonuses and comprehensive benefits. The role provides a platform for professional growth, with opportunities to lead projects, mentor junior team members, and engage directly with stakeholders to translate technical insights into actionable business strategies. The role is adaptable to experience, with additional responsibilities at the Manager level, including project ownership, stakeholder management, and team leadership.

The ideal candidate will possess a strong academic background in a STEM discipline, complemented by proven experience in delivering data science, machine learning, or AI solutions within a commercial environment. Proficiency in Python, including libraries such as Pandas, NumPy, and SciPy, is essential. A solid understanding of statistics, probability, and data analysis is required to interpret complex datasets effectively.

Experience with large language models (LLMs), including retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), fine-tuning, prompt engineering, and agent-based workflows, is highly desirable. Familiarity with model deployment and MLOps tools such as Databricks and MLflow, along with version control practices like Git, will be advantageous. Strong communication skills are necessary to articulate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders and collaborate effectively across multidisciplinary teams.

Responsibilities

  • Build and deploy sophisticated data science, machine learning, and simulation models to address complex business challenges.
  • Apply advanced analytical techniques including optimization, forecasting, statistical modeling, and artificial intelligence.
  • Develop innovative LLM-based solutions, such as RAG pipelines, fine-tuning approaches, and agent-based workflows.
  • Handle large and complex datasets, both structured and unstructured, ensuring data quality and integrity.
  • Write clean, scalable, and efficient Python code suitable for both development and production environments.
  • Utilize tools like Databricks, MLflow, and modern AI platforms to manage the full lifecycle of models, from development to deployment.
  • Translate technical insights into clear, commercially relevant recommendations for stakeholders.
  • Engage with clients and internal teams to define problems, shape solutions, and ensure project alignment with business goals.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including data engineers, strategists, and product managers to deliver impactful solutions.

At the Manager level, additional responsibilities include leading projects end-to-end, managing and mentoring junior team members, maintaining stakeholder relationships, and contributing to business development initiatives.
