## About the Role
The Senior Data Scientist leads the development of strategic initiatives in Analytics, Reporting and Metrics, working in alignment with the broader Business Information Services strategy. Leveraging visualization tools and business intelligence platforms, key responsibilities include:
## Responsibilities
You will:
- Coordinate with functional teams to implement models and monitor outcomes.
- Develop processes and tools to monitor model performance and ensure data accuracy.
- Utilise business intelligence tools (e.g., Spotfire) for analysis and systematic review.
- Build custom data models and algorithms applied to data sets.
- Provide specialist support for:
- Development and interpretation of machine learning models.
- Provide specialist support for:
- Apply analytical and statistical methods to solve use cases collaboratively.
- Prioritise agile problem-solving using diverse data sources and tools.
- Engage with key stakeholders across the organization to identify opportunities.
- Transform company data into actionable business solutions.
- Liaise, advise and negotiate with customer groups on data/lucrative requirements.
- Propose innovative solutions for data modelling needs.
- Develop capabilities to reduce inefficiencies in routine requests.
- Ensure smoother, more structured and efficient data provision.
- Contribute to initiatives fostering faster and more effective:
- Data modelling, analysis and provisioning.
- Maintain standards ensuring systems, code, and documentation are inspection-ready.

## Requirements & Qualifications
ICON values an analytical, customer-focused professional with a global mindset and a strong grounding in operational excellence.
To excel in this role, you must have:
- 3+ years of experience in manipulating data sets and building statistical models.
- A bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field.
- Proficiency in statistical computer languages, specifically:
- Python & SQL (experience with R is a bonus).
- Positively adopt cloud and data platforms, including:
- Microsoft Azure, AWS, Snowflake, Databricks or similar, wherever applicable.
- Relevant experience in clinical data and the pharmaceutical industry (via clinical trials or pharmaceutical roles is preferable) – but not required.
- Mastery of:
- A variety of machine learning techniques (clustering, decision trees, artificial neural networks, etc.).
- Honest appraisal of their real-world advantages and drawbacks.
- Advanced statistical techniques (e.g., regression, properties of distributions, statistical tests).
- Applications of their knowledge is critical.
