Role: Data Scientist (ML / AI Engineering)
Location: Manchester (2 days per week)
Role intro.....
We’re hiring a Data Scientist to help shape intelligent, customer-first experiences through machine learning and AI engineering. This is an opportunity to work at the intersection of customer experience, personalisation, recommendations and emerging Agentic AI, building models and systems that directly influence how users discover products, receive tailored content and interact with digital journeys.
You’ll join a team focused on deploying ML into production, improving experimentation and performance, and driving measurable impact. If you enjoy taking models from concept to scalable, reliable services in the cloud, this role offers the challenge and ownership to do exactly that.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, build and deploy machine learning models supporting personalisation and recommendation use cases
- Partner with product, engineering and stakeholder teams to define success metrics and translate business needs into ML solutions
- Develop end-to-end ML pipelines, from data preparation and feature engineering through to training, evaluation and deployment
- Implement and improve MLOps practices to ensure reproducibility, monitoring, CI/CD and model lifecycle management
- Build and maintain scalable ML services on AWS, optimising for performance, reliability and cost
- Explore and prototype approaches within Agentic AI, using modern techniques to drive automation and richer customer experiences
- Continuously evaluate model performance, mitigate bias, and enhance recommendation relevance and customer outcomes

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
