Data Scientist
Job Description: Data Scientist
About The Role
Our Chief Operating Office (COO) serves as the backbone of The AA, driving stability, growth, and innovation. This is a role focused on shaping the future of demand and supply forecasting using machine learning to ensure our roadside patrol operations have the right capability in the right place and time.
We see data as one of our greatest opportunities, and we’re investing in AI, platforms, and software to maximise its potential. As a Data Scientist, you will:
- Transform complex data into practical solutions that enhance decision-making, workforce optimisation, and operational performance.
- Work on real-world challenges in demand forecasting, resource optimisation, and customer demand analysis.
- Be at the heart of national workforce planning, logistics, mobility, and emergency response operations.
We are looking for someone who thrives when solving real-world problems using data science. Prior experience in industries with large, field-based, or nationally deployed teams (e.g., logistics, utilities, transport, airlines, emergency services, or roadside operations) would be highly valued.
Key Responsibilities
- Build and deploy statistical modelling and machine learning solutions for forecasting, segmentation, and value-ownership analysis.
- Apply data mining, algorithmic techniques (including AI and LLM-based approaches) to solve operational challenges.
- Collaborate with data engineers, architects, and AI experts to design and scale models into platforms and AA products.
- Analyse trends, scenarios, risks, and insights to improve business performance and customer outcomes.
- Ensure data quality, reliability, and governance compliance when working with relevant datasets.
- Translate technical insights into clear, actionable business recommendations through presentations and stakeholder engagements.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.
