About The Role
As a Data Scientist at Sporty Group, you will play a pivotal role in developing and deploying machine learning systems that directly impact user experience and business performance. Your primary focus will be on building personalized recommendation engines, search ranking algorithms, and content intelligence models that are scalable and production-ready. This role combines advanced analytics, Python programming, and cloud engineering to address complex real-world problems in a fast-paced, product-oriented environment. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including product managers, engineers, and marketing specialists, to translate data insights into actionable solutions that drive growth and engagement.

Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess a strong foundation in data science, machine learning, and software engineering. A minimum of 2 years of professional experience in relevant roles such as data scientist, quantitative researcher, or analyst is required. You should have hands-on experience applying statistical and machine learning models to solve business problems with measurable outcomes. Proficiency in Python, SQL, and familiarity with relational databases are essential. A degree in Applied Mathematics, Computer Science, Financial Engineering, or related fields is required. Knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure) and experience with AI tools and agents are highly desirable. Additional qualifications include experience managing projects and stakeholders, as well as a solid understanding of probability, statistics, linear algebra, and computer science fundamentals.
Responsibilities
- Utilizing advanced algorithms and data mining techniques to develop personalized recommendation systems aimed at enhancing user experience and increasing conversion rates.
- Designing, developing, and deploying machine learning and AI systems across various domains such as search ranking, recommendation engines, and content intelligence.
- Collaborating with product teams to understand business needs and translating them into scalable data solutions.
- Maintaining and improving existing models, ensuring their performance and reliability in production environments.
- Leveraging AI-assisted development tools to accelerate project delivery.
- Participating in code reviews.
- Contributing to the continuous improvement of data workflows and infrastructure.
