Data Scientist (Masters)
Data Scientist (Masters) — AI Data Trainer
About the Role
What if your expertise in machine learning, statistical inference, and data engineering could directly shape how the world’s most advanced AI systems think and reason?
We're looking for data scientists with an advanced background to join Alignerr’s AI training program, where you'll work hands-on with cutting-edge language models. Your mission? Stress-test their reasoning, expose blind spots, and help build AI capable of solving complex problems accurately.
This is a fully remote, flexible contract role. No prior AI industry experience is required—just deep, rigorous knowledge of data science and the ability to communicate it with precision.
Organization: Alignerr Type: Hourly Contract Location: Remote Commitment: 10–40 hours/week
What You’ll Do
- Design Advanced Challenges: Create complex, domain-specific data science problems spanning:
- Hyperparameter optimization
- Bayesian inference
- Cross-validation strategies
- Dimensionality reduction
- (and more)
- Author Ground-Truth Solutions: Develop rigorous, step-by-step reference solutions, including:
- Python/R scripts
- SQL queries
- Mathematical derivations (to set the standard for correct AI responses)
- Audit AI-Generated Code: Evaluate outputs from models using Scikit-Learn, PyTorch, TensorFlow, and other frameworks for:
- Technical accuracy
- Efficiency
- Soundness
- Sharpen AI Reasoning: Identify and document logical failures in AI outputs, such as:
- Data leakage
- Overfitting
- Improper handling of class imbalance
- Systematically Record Failure Modes: Help research teams harden model behavior at scale by documenting breakdowns.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
