NIQ’s Media unit specializes in delivering comprehensive audience measurement solutions across television, radio, digital, and cross-media platforms. We utilize panel-based methodologies, leveraging household and individual panels to ensure our insights are accurate, representative, and actionable. About The Role
The Principal Data Scientist at NIQ plays a pivotal role in shaping high-impact, client-centric Data Science initiatives. This role is designed for seasoned professionals who excel in conceptual thinking, strategic influence, and cross-team collaboration. The successful candidate will lead the development of innovative analytics, AI, and Data Science solutions within our Media pillar, including Media Measurement, Audience Activation, and Performance. The focus of this position is on strategic conceptualization, ensuring that data-driven initiatives are well-defined, feasible, and aligned with client needs and business objectives. The Principal Data Scientist will influence the direction of projects from inception through delivery, fostering a culture of scientific rigor and innovative thinking that drives measurable business impact.

Qualifications
- Master’s or PhD in a quantitative field such as Statistics, Data Science, Computer Science, or related disciplines
- 8–10+ years of professional experience in Data Science or related fields
- Advanced expertise in statistical analysis, machine learning, and artificial intelligence
- Strong background in the media industry or experience working within complex industry measurement contexts
- Proven ability to influence senior stakeholders and shape cross-functional Data Science initiatives
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
- Experience with cross-market and cross-media data integration and analysis
Responsibilities
- Shape and contribute to the strategic alignment and prioritization of Data Science initiatives across the Media unit
- Define clear concepts and target frameworks for high-impact projects, ensuring they are scientifically rigorous, feasible, and relevant to client needs
- Identify potential conceptual risks and address unrealistic assumptions early in project development
- Participate in Data Science governance, including decision-making on project delivery readiness, prioritization, and resource allocation
- Support client pitches, tenders, and market expansion activities by providing expert insights and innovative solutions
- Develop compelling Data Science narratives, including 'Why this matters' framing, to communicate value to stakeholders
- Create whitepapers and guidance documents to support delivery teams and foster best practices
- Mentor and guide other Data Scientists, supporting their professional development and conceptual capabilities
- Provide senior technical and methodological guidance across teams, acting as a role model for high-quality Data Science thinking and stakeholder interaction
