About The Role

As a Data Scientist at Sporty Group, you will play a pivotal role in developing and deploying data-driven machine learning systems that significantly enhance personalization, search, and recommendation functionalities across our platforms. Your work will directly influence user experience and business growth by creating scalable models that deliver measurable results. This position requires a blend of advanced analytics, proficiency in Python-based modeling, and cloud engineering expertise to solve complex real-world problems in a fast-paced, innovative environment. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including product managers, engineers, and stakeholders, to translate business needs into technical solutions that drive value and engagement.

Qualifications

To succeed in this role, candidates should possess a solid foundation in applied mathematics, computer science, or related fields, with a minimum of two years of professional experience in data science or quantitative analysis. A strong proficiency in Python and the broader ecosystem of statistical and machine learning tools is essential. Candidates should have practical experience applying models to real business challenges, demonstrating measurable impact on revenue or key performance indicators. Expertise in SQL and familiarity with relational databases are required, along with experience working with cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP, or Azure. A degree in Applied Mathematics, Computer Science, Financial Engineering, or Engineering is preferred. Additional skills in project management and stakeholder engagement are advantageous.

Responsibilities

  • Utilize advanced algorithms and data mining techniques to develop personalized recommendation systems aimed at optimizing product and service suggestions, thereby enhancing user experience and increasing conversion rates.
  • Design, develop, and deploy machine learning and AI systems across various domains such as search ranking, content intelligence, and recommendation engines.
  • Work with large datasets, leveraging cloud infrastructure to build scalable solutions that impact user growth and business metrics.
  • Collaborate with product teams to translate business requirements into technical models, ensuring the delivery of high-quality, production-ready systems.
  • Continually monitor, evaluate, and refine deployed models to maintain optimal performance and relevance.
