Data Scientist

You will develop probabilistic models that power real-time betting markets within the Quantitative Analysis department. This team uses data-driven insights to enhance betting products and services, designing, developing, and maintaining sophisticated mathematical models for optimal pricing across sports betting products.

In this role, you’ll:

  • Analyse extensive datasets to inform in-play betting decisions and optimise odds.
  • Work within a fast-paced, delivery-focused environment with opportunities for technical growth and innovation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct in-depth analysis of large datasets to extract key insights and shape decision-making in sports betting.
  • Apply statistical techniques and machine learning algorithms to build predictive models and algorithms.
  • Develop innovative solutions for complex, real-world challenges.
  • Assess and refine existing models to identify opportunities for performance improvements.
  • Diagnose and address data quality issues or technical bugs impacting models.
  • Perform statistical validation of models against historical and live data.
  • Collaborate with trading teams to integrate domain expertise into mathematical models.
  • Optimise model performance for balance between accuracy and computational efficiency.
  • Research emerging approaches from academic research and industry trends.
  • Spot and recommend new opportunities for data-driven innovation.

Requirements

Essential

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, Data Science, Computer Science, or a related quantitative discipline.
  • Passionate interest in a variety of sports and/or the online gambling industry.
  • Demonstrable experience building predictive models from data.
  • Strong grasp of statistical analysis and probability theory applied practically.
  • Proficiency in Python/R, along with experience using ML frameworks like scikit-learn, TensorFlow, or PyTorch.
  • Ability to optimise models for performance, balancing accuracy and computational efficiency.
  • Familiarity with working with and analysing large datasets.
  • Exposure to cloud computing environments.
