Data Security Lead
Cyber Resilience – Data Security Service Lead

The Opportunity

As the Data Security Service Lead, your role is pivotal:
- Stand up Arup’s new Data Security service, defining its vision, operating model, roadmap, and measures of success.
- Build and manage the team, establishing clear governance.
- Work closely with cyber peers to embed data protection across Arup’s operations and projects.
- Provide single-point ownership for data security outcomes by formulating and implementing a Data Security Plan into sustained delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- Own and deliver the Data Security Service, including:
- Vision & roadmap
- Operating model
- Success measures
- Translate the Data Security Plan into a prioritised multi-year roadmap, covering:
- Governance, data classification
- DLP (Data Loss Prevention)
- Encryption, monitoring, and resilience
- Operate at both strategic and operational levels, turning strategy into sustained delivery.
- Collaborate with senior stakeholders and technical teams to:
- Shape data security priorities
- Advise on complex data risks
- Track progress
- Continuously improve data protection across its lifecycle

Is This Role Right for You?
You must have:
✔ Deep expertise in data security, including:
- Data classification
- DLP (Data Loss Prevention)
- Encryption, and data lifecycle protection
✔ Strong understanding of industry standards and frameworks, such as:
- ISO/IEC 27001
- NIST CSF
- CIS Controls
✔ Proven experience owning/leading a global or enterprise-scale security service—or related capability.
✔ Aptitude for strategic and operational execution, ensuring consistent delivery.
✔ Exceptional stakeholder management skills—ability to influence senior leaders and technical teams.
