Data Security Lead
Data Security Service Lead – Cyber Resilience Team
Location: Digital Technology Group, Arup London Contract: Permanent

The Cyber Resilience team sits within the Digital Technology Group, encompassing:
- Data Security
- Identity & Access Management (IAM)
- Security Engineering
- IAM Administration
- Privileged Access Management
We collaborate with Security Operations and Governance, Risk, and Compliance to protect Arup’s platforms, information, and data.

The Role – Data Security Service Lead
Key Fulfils the Following Responsibilities:
- Stand up Arup’s new Data Security service, defining its vision, operating model, roadmap, and KPIs for sustained success.
- Build the team, establish governance, and embed data protection across the firm’s operations and projects.
- Serve as the single-point owner for data security outcomes, delivering the Data Security Plan into operational reality.
Critical Duties:
- Translate the Data Security Plan into a multi-year delivery roadmap covering:
- Governance
- Classification
- Data Loss Prevention (DLP)
- Encryption
- Monitoring
- Criticality/Resilience planning
- Lead the execution of the Data Security Service, balancing strategic leadership with pragmatic delivery, ensuring alignment with technical teams and stakeholders at all levels.

Requirements
Essential Qualifications & Experience:
- Deep expertise in data security, including:
- Data classification strategies
- DLP (Data Loss Prevention)
- Encryption frameworks
- End-to-end data lifecycle protection
- A strong grasp of standards and frameworks:
- ISO/IEC 27001
- NIST Cybersecurity Framework (CSF)
- CIS Controls (Centre for Internet Security)
- Proven leadership in:
- Owning or leading a global/enterprise-scale security service or capability.
- Operating at strategic and executive levels (policy), plus operational excellence (executing tactical delivery).
- Exceptional stakeholder management skills, with experience:
- Influencing senior leadership, business partners, and technical teams.
