Job Title: Data Security Service Lead

The Cyber Resilience team is part of the Digital Technology Group and includes Data Security, Identity & Access Management, Security Engineering, IAM Administration, and Privileged Access Management. The team works alongside Security Operations and Governance, Risk and Compliance to protect Arup’s platforms, information, and data.


The Opportunity

As the Data Security Service Lead, you will:

  • Shape Arup’s new Data Security Service, defining its vision, operating model, roadmap, and success measures.
  • Build the team, establish governance frameworks, and collaborate with peers across Cyber to embed data protection into firm operations and project delivery.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own and deliver the Data Security Service, ensuring measureable outcomes across the organisation through a formulated Data Security Plan.
  • Head the Data Security Service, encompassing:
    • Vision & roadmap development.
    • Integration of security controls like governance, classification, Data Loss Prevention (DLP), encryption, monitoring, and resilience.
  • Translate the Cloud Data Protection Strategy into a clear, prioritised multi-year delivery roadmap.

  • Required standards framework knowledge: ISO/IEC 27001, NIST CSF, CIS Controls—and their practical application.
  • Leadership experience: Proven ability to own and transform global or enterprise-grade security services.
  • Dual-worker mindset: Bridge strategic goals to operational success—measuring, driving, and refining data protection.
  • Stakeholder influence: Strong track record of collaborating with senior leaders and technical teams to implement security programs.
