Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

The role

The Data Solutions Specialist – Annuities is a technically focused role responsible for designing, building, and enhancing data solutions that support the onboarding and ongoing servicing of Bulk Purchase Annuity (BPA) schemes.

Working within the BPA Data team and in close partnership with Transformation, the role will develop scalable data models, tooling, and automation to improve the efficiency, control, and accuracy of pensions data processes.

The role combines strong technical capability (e.g. Python, SQL, data modelling) with a solid understanding of DB pensions data, ensuring that solutions are both technically robust and aligned to scheme requirements and member outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and deliver scalable data solutions, including data models, pipelines, and tooling, translating business requirements into robust technical outputs using Python and SQL.
  • Develop and automate data engineering processes, building efficient pipelines, optimising performance, and standardising reusable solutions across BPA schemes.
  • Analyse and interpret DB pensions data, supporting data migration, mapping, and transformation, and resolving complex data issues in line with scheme rules and calculations.
  • Support transformation and change initiatives, collaborating with wider teams to enhance tooling, contribute to strategic data programmes, and embed best practice.
  • Embed strong data quality, controls, and governance, ensuring auditability, reconciliation, and alignment to regulatory and risk frameworks.
  • Engage and collaborate with stakeholders, working across actuarial, operations, and transition teams to deliver accurate, reliable, and insight-led data outputs.
