## About the Role
This role is based within the **Data, Tech & Analytics (DTA)** team, under the **Global Client Solutions (GCS)** organisation. GCS manages all global clients within WPP, while DTA delivers cutting-edge **data solutions, strategy, analytics, technology, and AI** to drive client **growth and innovation**.

### **Who We Are Looking For**
As **Director, Data Strategy** within the **Global Client Data Strategy Team**, you’ll lead **data strategy initiatives** for **HME**, one of WPP Media’s largest global client portfolios. Reporting to the **EMEA Data Strategy Lead**, you will:
- Develop **global data strategies** that convert **WPP’s capabilities** into measurable client outcomes
- Operate as a **strategic leader** for data technology transformation, driving commercial growth, and upskilling junior team members
You will bring technical and strategic acumen, driving projects end-to-end while fostering long-term relationships with **senior stakeholders**. Your influence will help shape WPP’s next-generation **data and technology offerings**.

## **Key Responsibilities**
### **Strategic Data Application**
- Design and execute **data-driven strategies** for global clients, leveraging **1PD, 2PD, and 3PD data**, WPP partnerships and proprietary products (**Open Intelligence, Infosum, etc.**).
- Bridge the gap between technical capabilities and **client business objectives**, ensuring strategies unlock growth, market share, and competitive advantage.

Global Roadmap & Transformation
- Develop and execute a global data and tech roadmap aligned with client desires and business outcomes.
- Conduct data maturity assessments, identify gaps, and build audience strategies using personal, aggregated, and third-party data.
- Lead the implementation of 1PD-first solutions, enhance data partnerships, and champion cross-region standardized approaches.
Client & Stakeholder Engagement
- Build trusted relationships with senior marketing and data leaders at large global clients.
- Translate complex data insights, technology requirements, and commercial potential into actionable strategies for clients.
- Partner with media and tech experts to educate clients on data capabilities, privacy-safe activation, and cross-platform optimisation.
Platform & Innovation Leadership
- Shape and customise WPP’s data platforms (WPP Open, Open Intelligence, Infosum, 3PD applications) for global clients. Drive innovation—designing new use cases, calibrating data integration, and facilitating seamlessly standardization.
- Work closely with consulting, tech enablement, and product teams to successfully deploy WPP Open and broader data solutions for enterprise clients.
- Stay current with emerging adtech and martech trends, translating insights into client requests and operational blueprints.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Connect regional, local, and global teams to aggregate a robust WPP technology and data proposition.
- Collaborate with media specialists, analytics, tech, and commercial teams to integrate solutions and highlight synergies.
Commercial & Growth Leadership
- Collaborate with commercial teams on pricing, pitching, and proposals for data-driven solutions, aiming for revenue growth and client success.
- Lead in creating value demos, advising on new platform integration, and identifying expansion opportunities for existing clients.
Thought Leadership & Industry Positions
- Elevate WPP’s standing as a leader in data-driven marketing.
- Regularly refine expertise in WPP’s data tools, AI strategies, and emerging trends, contributing to broader industry discourse.

Required Skills & Qualifications

Leadership Provenance (10+ years suited) in senior data, analytics, or martech roles, with track record:
- Leading multidisciplinary teams (e.g., managing multiple Associate Directors+) or project teams
- Assisting talent development—supplying mentorship and growth opportunities

Data-Strategy Expertise—10+ years specialising in data, analytics, or media technology, with portfolio experience including:
- Developing data-high-fidelity strategies (1PD, 2PD, 3PD data)
- Aligning audience strategies with commercial outcomes
- Managing open data partitions (CDPs, Data Clean Rooms, DSPs, ad-intelligence platforms)

Client Success Mindset—experience in engaging with huge multinational brands, adapting global programs for local execution, and influencing strategic purchasing decisions.

Calibration in Tech/Martech/Landscape—strong grasp of keys:
- Advanced thought leadership tools (MMM—marketing mix modelling, MTA—marketing touchpoint analysis, attribution models like Sales Lift, and Brand Measurement Studies)
- AI applications in marketing—e.g., targeting, optimisation, automation
- Concepts around privacy compliance, validation, and governance (GDPR, CCPA)

Commercial and Collaborative Skills—ability to:
- Translate insights into revenue-generating pathways through strategic alignment
- Execute complex initiatives in cross-functional matrix spa cs
- Advocate and guide through adoption of new technologies and thinking

- Simplify intricate data frameworks into clear value narratives for both peers and clients
- Present compelling stories that link strategy to metrics, ROI, and long-term advantage
