MVNx Data Science & Engineering Lead – Vodafone
Role Purpose
MVNx is a strategic platform capability enabling Vodafone to serve global MVNO, wholesale, and partner customers at scale. This end-to-end, data-led approach spans customer journeys, IT systems, and network domains.
The MVNx Data Science & Engineering Lead is a critical senior leadership role responsible for:
- Establishing data as a strategic product and trusted asset
- Supporting MVNx growth ambitions
- Ensuring regulatory assurance and global customer confidence
The role defines, governs, and delivers end-to-end data, analytics, architecture, and AI capability across MVNx, operating at enterprise scale. It spans Commercial data, Digital channels, BSS/IT platforms, and Network domains, ensuring data supports:
- Product strategy
- Customer experience
- Operational performance
- Regulatory compliance
In partnership with the Head of Product, the incumbent will shape the MVNx data strategy, data governance, and embed data-driven decision-making across products and platforms for global customers.
What You’ll Do
Strategic Leadership & Vision
- Define and own the MVNx data strategy in alignment with product, technology (IT & networks), and commercial objectives.
- Position data, analytics, and AI as core drivers of product differentiation, scale, and growth.
- Develop and maintain a clear, prioritised roadmap for data platforms, analytics, and AI capabilities.
Architecture & Data Operations
- Own the end-to-end MVNx data architecture across digital channels, BSS/IT systems, and network domains in collaboration with IT and network architecture teams.
- Ensure seamless data integration across customer journeys, BSS/IT, and network telemetry to enable insights, automation, and predictive capability at scale.
- Define and govern enterprise standards for data platforms, pipelines, and analytics engineering.
Advanced Analytics & AI
- Lead the delivery of advanced analytics and AI capabilities, from ideation to production.
- Ensure all models and insights are production-grade, governed, monitored, and measured for impact.
- Drive high-value AI and data use cases across:
- Global customer experience
- Product performance & monetisation
- Network optimisation
- Operational efficiency

Compliance & Governance
- Ensure MVNx data capabilities meet expectations for global customers operating across multiple jurisdictions.
- Apply data sovereignty principles, including data residency, access, and processing constraints.
- Maintain compliance with GDPR and regional data regulations across products and platforms.
Stakeholder Representation
- Act as the senior data representative for customers, partners, and auditors where required.
- Hold end-to-end accountability for the MVNx data governance framework, including policies, standards, and decision forums.
Who You Are
- Senior leadership with 5+ years’ experience in Data Architecture, Data Science, and Data Engineering, operating within complex, enterprise-scale organisations.
- Domain expertise (15+ years) in Analytics, Digital/IT, and Network/infrastructure data, with a strong understanding of interconnected domains.
- Proven track record of delivering end-to-end data capabilities—from strategy to execution.
- Experience designing and scaling modern, cloud-based data platforms, including knowledge of:
- Leading technologies (e.g., GCP, BigQuery, Dataflow, Dataproc or equivalents).
- Best-practice architectures (data lakes, lakehouses, streaming pipelines).
- Strong grasp of real-time and event-driven architectures, including streaming, API-led integration, and data product thinking.
- Strategic partnership with product leadership to shape data as a growth and CX enabler.
- Expertise in defining and embedding data governance across multi-functional, cross-organisational boundaries.
- In-depth knowledge of data sovereignty, GDPR, and regulatory frameworks, with the ability to translate requirements into operational models.
- Proven experience leading high-performing analytics and data engineering teams, with outcomes directly supporting commercial success.
- Credentiality and executive presence—able to influence stakeholders, global customers, and multi-disciplinary teams.
