Data systems operation Lead
Data Systems Operations Lead
We are looking for a Data Systems Operations Lead to architect and run mission-critical operations for Pyth's Price Feeds, our real-time, distributed market data infrastructure. You'll ensure our feeds operate flawlessly 24/7, translating operational challenges into strategic improvements that measurably reduce risk and enhance service quality.
Optimise the service management aspects of Pyth's Price Feeds. Lead automation efforts across price feeds, own Pyth Pro’s runtime requirements (including monitoring, provisioning, and risk metrics), and drive forensic analysis during incidents—quantify impact, prioritise fixes, and ensure solutions reduce recurrence.
This is a high-impact role for a distributed systems specialist who identifies automation opportunities while managing relationships with institutional users. You’ll make critical operational decisions, architect scalable solutions, and deliver projects end-to-end.

Key Responsibilities
Own Pyth Pro Operations & Service Excellence
- Define and uphold runbook standards for Pyth Pro, covering:
- Real-time monitoring, provisioning, risk metrics and SLA compliance
- Institutional-grade quality assurance for all price feeds -Translate high-level business goals into detailed engineering requirements (e.g., automation strategies).
- Orb tasks like performance reviews and feed verification, ensuring alignment with stated SLPs.
Lead Automation to Eliminate Toil
- Scratch above the surface: identity inefficient manual tasks and design systematic, low-maintenance solutions.
- Champion principles of fail-fast, resilient systems by proactively identifying failure modes and preventing fallout.
- Measure and communicate improvements in operational efficiency and risk mitigation.
Incident Response & Data Forensics
- During incidents: lead root cause analysis, quantify impact across users and systems, and propose changes.
- Champion fixes todrive both risk reduction and long-term fixes.
- Storm centre during outages: champion decisions that balance urgency with correctness.
Technical & Business Outreach
- Bridge the gap between tech teams and institutional traders/providers.
- Advocate for recurring operational improvements internally, balancing technical needs with business goals.
- Instimate to both hard-spaced engineers and C-suite decision-makers.

Desired Skills & Experience
Core Requirements
- 5+ years building or operating distributed systems—experience with:
- Critical systems (including low-incident environments).
- Incident management and on-call rotation.
- Deep understanding of real-time data systems, market data feeds, or financial infrastructures.
- Background from:
- Tier-1 financial institutions.
- Exchanges, data providers, or prime brokerages.
- Oracles, CeFi, or DeFi systems.
- Proven ability to translate technical constraints into business requirements.
Nice to Have
- Blockchain or crypto infrastructure: specifically on-chain operations.
- SRE, DevOps, or infrastructure-as-code at scale.
- Market data specialists’ insights (examples: oracle systems, low-latency pipelines).
- Risk ownership or Audit-for-Resilience experience.
