The Role
The Data Team Lead role leads So Energy’s data function on a day-to-day basis, owning the people, delivery and quality of a team of Data Analysts and Data Engineers. Reporting to the Technology Director, this is a player-coach role: you will spend most of your time leading, developing and unblocking your team, through working with the product team to prioritise their work, while staying hands-on enough to lead by example, set the technical bar, review PRs, and personally deliver a piece of data analysis or data pipeline when it matters.
You will translate So Energy’s data ambition into a prioritised, executable roadmap, and turn data into insight that drives customer-centric, commercially sound decisions. Building out our modern analytics platform based on Google Cloud Platform / BigQuery data warehouse with Dataform, Data Studio and Looker, you will ensure data is a reliable, well-governed and trusted asset that powers growth, operational efficiency and a great customer experience. Driving the move to a federated self-service model is key.
As the most senior data role in the business, you will also be the champion for data: contributing to the wider technology strategy, raising data literacy across the company, and building a high-performing, customer-focused team.

Reasons to use Rodeo
I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
