Data Transformation Lead (HRIS)
Role Type: Contract
Location: Liverpool or London (Hybrid)
We're partnering with a leading UK organisation undergoing a major HR technology transformation and are looking for an experienced Data Transformation Lead to join a high-profile HRIS replacement programme.
This is a fantastic opportunity to play a pivotal role in shaping the future HR data landscape, working at the intersection of HR, Technology and Data Governance to ensure the successful migration and transformation of critical people data.
The Opportunity
You'll lead the analytical workstream across a complex HR systems transformation, driving data modelling, governance, quality, validation and migration activities. Working closely with HR, Technology, Architecture and Programme teams, you'll help ensure the new HR platform is underpinned by high-quality, well-governed data.
This role would suit an experienced contractor who has delivered HRIS, ERP or enterprise data transformation programmes and enjoys working with both technical and business stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
- Analyse the current HR data landscape, identifying data sources, flows and dependencies.
- Translate business processes and requirements into logical data specifications and models.
- Define data transformation and migration rules from legacy HR systems into a new HRIS platform.
- Lead data profiling, cleansing, validation and reconciliation activities.
- Develop data quality controls, validation rules and governance frameworks.
- Support data migration planning, execution and testing across SIT, UAT and parallel run phases.
- Work closely with Data Governance and Architecture teams to establish data ownership, stewardship and metadata standards.
- Produce clear documentation including data dictionaries, mapping specifications and business glossaries.
- Facilitate workshops with HR and business stakeholders to define data requirements and future-state processes.
- Enable scalable HR reporting and analytics through robust data structures and models.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
