About the Role – Data Warehouse Technical Lead
Focus: Development, support, and evolution of a critical on-premise Common Data Environment (CDE).
Key Responsibilities
Core Tasks
- Design, build, test, and support the CDE, ensuring efficient data ingestion from multiple systems (KBR and client sources).
- Structure and transform data effectively.
- Enable publication of paginated reports and Power BI dashboards within the MS Azure instance, catering to multiple stakeholder needs.
Technical Leadership
- Develop the data/reporting layer, with potential to migrate to a SaaS solution and modernise from on-premise.
- Work closely with:
- Technical peers to forge collaborative relationships.
- BI/MI Lead(S) to align on key deliverables.
- Client/supplier users where necessary.

Specific Work Areas

Within the FMI ITIM Team:
- Specify high-level and low-level data models, ETL plans, and data warehouse designs.
- Build and unit test data warehouses as part of an integrated solution.
- Develop paginated reports and dashboards supporting multi-organisational M.I.

Operational & Strategic Support:
- Assist project management (planning, effort estimation, progress tracking).
- Maintain and enhance build solutions post-implementation via BAU support.

Collaboration with FMI BI/MI Lead:
- Define and implement an MI Operating Model, ensuring structured, repeatable delivery for stakeholders.

Product Ownership & Technical Strategy:
- Support the Technical Product Owner in:
- long-term data & reporting strategy.
- migrating from on-premise to cloud (SaaS).
- collaborative leadership through all project phases.

Required Experience & Skills
Essential
✔ SQL Data Warehouse Expertise
- Experience developing, deploying, and supporting on-premise data warehouses from multi-source inputs.
✔ Microsoft Stack Expertise
- Complete proficiency with SSIS, SSRS, and SSAS.
✔ ETL & Data Model Development
- Extensive experience designing ETL workflows from disparate data sources.
- Skill in documenting and refining data models.

✔ Cloud & Reporting Integration
- Hands-on experience with data lakehouses (Microsoft Fabric).
- Mastery of Azure-critical AI integration, reporting (M.I.) via Power BI paginated reports.
✔ Stakeholder Collaboration
- Strong capability to build technical leadership and explain complex concepts clearly.
- Strong second-line support breadth (troubleshooting, root cause resolution).
✔ Data Governance & Quality
- Proven track record working in governance, analyzing data quality/historical integrity issues.
Desirable (Competitive Edge)
🔹 Experience in the FM Integrator (FMI) environment (end-to-end ETL from Concept Evolution → Data Warehouse).
🔹 Strong data migration and quality repair experience, especially from wrinkled client datasets.
🔹 Programming extensions: scripting knowledge in VBA_/.BAT files.
🔹 Agile Methodologies (scrum frameworks, sprint ceremonies).
🔹 Technical governance & leadership: able to guide, mentor, and formalize standards.
🔹 Software delivery rigor: unit testing, continuous integration & delivery (CI/CD) experience.
🔹 Microsoft Teams proficient in collaborative toolstreams.
🔹 Industry knowledge (specializing in facilities management.
🔹 Public sector or mission-critical client experience delivering projects.
Location & Working Arrangements
📍 Based at Leatherhead, offering a hybrid work model (with a minimum 3 days per week on-site).
