Databank Administrator – Suffolk Community Libraries
Location: Ipswich County Library, Ipswich, Suffolk, IP1 3DE (Hybrid working) Salary: £25,185 per annum (pro rata) Hours: 12 hours per week (flexible working options available) Contract: Fixed term/Secondment (externally funded by public health grant, expected to end in 2 years)
About the Role
At Suffolk County Council, every role presents the chance to make a positive difference. As the Databank Administrator within Suffolk Community Libraries, you’ll combat digital exclusion by helping residents access mobile data and essential online services.
You’ll play a key role in delivering the National Databank—often called a “foodbank for mobile data”—providing free SIM cards to those unable to connect otherwise. If you’re organised, people-centred, and driven to create real impact, we’d welcome your application.

Your Role and Responsibilities
Suffolk Community Libraries act as official Digital Inclusion Hubs, distributing the National Databank. Your varied role will involve both administrative support and woider business functions across the service.
Key Duties Include:
- Administering the National Databank, including:
- Coordinating referrals
- Distributing SIM cards
- Collaborating with suppliers and partners
- Liaising with beneficiaries and partner organisations to:
- Gather feedback
- Assess impact metrics
- Promoting the Databank—both internally and externally
- Maintaining accurate records, databases, and mailing lists
- Assisting with reporting, financial admin (e.g., invoice processing), and spreadsheet management
- Organising meetings, preparing documentation, and supporting team communications

The Team
As part of Suffolk Community Libraries within the Public Health, Communities, and Public Safety directorate, you’ll collaborate with partners across Suffolk to improve outcomes and reduce inequalities.
The team is collaborative, supportive, and aligned with digital inclusion initiatives, offering opportunities to learn, develop, and contribute to meaningful work that directly benefits Suffolk residents.
Note: While this role offers hybrid flexibility, library visits will occasionally be required.
