Databank Administrator
Databank Administrator (Mobile Data Access) – Suffolk County Council
Location: Ipswich County Library, Ipswich, Suffolk, IP1 3DE – Hybrid (with travel to libraries required)
Salary: £25,185 per annum (pro rata), flexible working options available
Hours: 12 hours per week Contract: Fixed-term/secondment (externally funded by the public health grant, expected to end in 2 years)
About the Role
At Suffolk County Council, every opportunity shapes a positive difference. As a Databank Administrator within Suffolk Community Libraries, you’ll tackle digital exclusion by supporting residents in accessing mobile data and essential online services.
This role is central to the National Databank—an initiative dubbed the “foodbank for mobile data”, providing free SIM cards to those unable to access the internet. Your work will help ensure no resident (or partner) is left offline.
If you’re organised, people-focused, and motivated by the potential to drive real impact, this could be the chance to make it happen.
Your Responsibilities
Suffolk Community Libraries are an official Digital Inclusion Hub, delivering the National Databank. Your core duties include:
-
Administering the National Databank, including:
- Coordinating referrals and distributing SIM cards
- Liaising with suppliers, recipients, and partner organisations to gather feedback
- Ensuring the scheme meets its objectives
-
Supporting promotional efforts—both internally and externally—to raise awareness of the Databank
-
Maintaining records (databases, mailing lists) and assisting with reporting
-
Providing financial and administrative support, such as:
- Processing invoices
- Managing spreadsheets and confidential documentation
- Organising meetings and facilitating team communications
Work will balance independent duties and collaborative tasks, making your role vital to delivering an efficient, customer-focused service.
A full list of requirements is available in the Job and Person Specification (JPP). No experience required? Apply anyway—we’d still love to hear from you.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
