The Role: Database Administrator
Our platinum account requires an experienced Database Administrator to join one of our database support teams. We are looking for a focused, motivated, and approachable individual with strong interpersonal skills.
Key Responsibilities
- Installing and configuring database binaries
- Writing and maintaining scripts to automate DBA tasks
- Investigating and implementing automation of processes
- Performing routine, periodic, and proactive operation and monitoring
- Troubleshooting database-related issues
- Patching and upgrading databases to ensure data security

- A proactive approach to identifying risks and problems
- Ability to work independently and in teams
- Willingness to share knowledge and learn from others

- Strong organisational, analytical, and problem-solving skills
Desirable Skills and Technologies
Database Experience
- Experience with database technologies such as:
- Oracle
- MongoDB
- PostgreSQL
- MySQL (and availability of prior experience in others is noted)
Operating Systems
- Proficiency in OS like RHEL and Windows Server
Cloud Technologies
- Familiarity with AWS and AWS databases
- Experience with cloud migrations into AWS
Automation
- Expertise in Ansible
Monitoring Tools
- Knowledge of database monitoring tools such as OEM and Nagios
Scripting
- Experience with Powershell and Bash scripting
Clustering/Failover
- Understanding of database server clustering, failover, and disaster recovery
Replication & Backup
- Familiarity with database replication software, such as:
- Data Guard
- Replication Manager for PostgreSQL
- MongoDB ReplicaSets
- Experience in backup/recovery procedures and scripting
Requirements
- Must be a UK national or have sole British citizenship with no dual nationality and have resided in the UK for 10 years or over due to security vetting requirements
- Open to either [Central London or Manchester), working 5 days a week on-site
