Database Administrator - SC Cleared

Database Administrator - SC Cleared

Whitehall Resources are seeking a Database Administrator with SC clearance (or eligibility for SC) to work on a 6-month contract with a key client, including 2 days per week on-site in Telford.

Contract specifics:

  • Inside IR35
  • Active SC clearance preferred

Key responsibilities:

Database Maintenance and Monitoring

  • Install, configure, and maintain database management systems (DBMS).
  • Monitor database performance and ensure operational efficiency.
  • Resolve database-related issues promptly.
  • Conduct regular backups and ensure robust data recovery capabilities.

Database Security

  • Implement and enforce security measures to protect sensitive data.
  • Manage user access permissions and privileges.
  • Conduct security audits and apply improvements to strengthen safeguards.

Data Management

  • Design, develop, and implement databases tailored to business needs.
  • Optimise database structures and queries for performance.
  • Define and uphold data standards and best practices.

Capacity Planning

  • Project future database capacity requirements.
  • Advise on hardware/software upgrades to support growth.

Documentation and Reporting

  • Maintain clear documentation of configurations, procedures, and policies.
  • Generate reports on database usage, security, and performance metrics.

Collaboration and Support

  • Work closely with development teams to enhance database integration.
  • Provide technical support to users and IT staff.
  • Stay informed about emerging database technologies and methodologies.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience as a Database Administrator or in a similar role.
  • Expertise in major DBMS platforms, including Oracle, SQL Server, MySQL, and PostgreSQL.
  • Strong knowledge of database security, backup, recovery, and performance tuning.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Ability to operate effectively independently or as part of a team.
  • Relevant certifications (e.g., Oracle Certified Professional, MICROSOFT Certified Database Administrator) are advantageous.
