Whitehall Resources are seeking a Database Administrator with SC clearance (or eligibility for SC) to work on a 6-month contract with a key client, including 2 days per week on-site in Telford.
Contract specifics:
- Inside IR35
- Active SC clearance preferred
Key responsibilities:
Database Maintenance and Monitoring
- Install, configure, and maintain database management systems (DBMS).
- Monitor database performance and ensure operational efficiency.
- Resolve database-related issues promptly.
- Conduct regular backups and ensure robust data recovery capabilities.
Database Security
- Implement and enforce security measures to protect sensitive data.
- Manage user access permissions and privileges.
- Conduct security audits and apply improvements to strengthen safeguards.

Data Management
- Design, develop, and implement databases tailored to business needs.
- Optimise database structures and queries for performance.
- Define and uphold data standards and best practices.
Capacity Planning
- Project future database capacity requirements.
- Advise on hardware/software upgrades to support growth.
Documentation and Reporting
- Maintain clear documentation of configurations, procedures, and policies.
- Generate reports on database usage, security, and performance metrics.
Collaboration and Support
- Work closely with development teams to enhance database integration.
- Provide technical support to users and IT staff.
- Stay informed about emerging database technologies and methodologies.

Requirements:
- Proven experience as a Database Administrator or in a similar role.
- Expertise in major DBMS platforms, including Oracle, SQL Server, MySQL, and PostgreSQL.
- Strong knowledge of database security, backup, recovery, and performance tuning.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Ability to operate effectively independently or as part of a team.
- Relevant certifications (e.g., Oracle Certified Professional, MICROSOFT Certified Database Administrator) are advantageous.
