Database Administrator Team Lead
Lead DBA Hybrid - Manchester Salary: up to £95,000 + 10% bonus and benefits
Here is the opportunity to step into a true technical authority role. This would be ideal for a Senior DBA to take the next step or a Lead DBA who can bring their experience across to shape the future of database engineering, drive modern DevOps practices, and influence architecture and strategy across a complex, high-volume platform
. The role is both strategic and hands-on, working across a diverse database estate including MariaDB, MySQL and MongoDB. There is a strong focus on modernisation that is moving away from traditional database-centric approaches towards a more automated, scalable, and forward-thinking engineering functio
n. This is a high-impact position with significant scope to influence architecture, guide technical decisions, and build a modern database capabili
ty. Key Responsibili
ties Own the architecture, strategy and operational direction of database plat formsLead the design and delivery of highly available, fault-tolerant sy stemsDefine and execute a database modernisation roadmap aligned to DevOps princ iplesMentor and develop the DBA team, improving capability, standards and ways of wo rkingImplement and optimise replication, clustering, high availability and disaster recovery strat egiesBuild and enhance CI/CD pipelines and automation frame worksDrive adoption of Infrastructure as Code (Ansible, Terra form)Work closely with engineering teams to optimise schema design, queries and perfor manceMonitor performance, capacity and availability, proactively identifying improvement opportun itiesEnsure adherence to security, governance and regulatory require mentsSupport platform scalability aligned to business g rowthCollaborate with DevOps, SRE and platform teams to improve operational mat urityTroubleshoot complex issues across database and application l ayersEvaluate and introduce emerging database technologies and to
