About The Role
IMT Resourcing Solutions is currently seeking a skilled Database Engineer to join a prominent organization based in Wigan. This role offers an exciting opportunity to support and optimize critical database platforms and infrastructure, ensuring high availability, security, and performance. The successful candidate will be instrumental in maintaining SQL environments, supporting Windows Server infrastructure, and contributing to ongoing service improvements across the company's technology estate. With a hybrid working model, the role combines the flexibility of remote work with essential on-site collaboration, primarily two days per week in Wigan.
Qualifications
- Strong experience in administering Microsoft SQL Server and supporting Azure SQL environments.
- Solid understanding of backup, recovery, and disaster recovery processes.
- Experience with Windows Server infrastructure, including patch management and routine maintenance.
- Proficiency in infrastructure monitoring, vulnerability remediation, and security best practices.
- Knowledge of scripting languages such as PowerShell is advantageous.
- Excellent troubleshooting, analytical skills, and effective communication abilities.
- Experience with PostgreSQL, MySQL, Oracle, Azure infrastructure, monitoring platforms, or cyber security frameworks is a plus.

Responsibilities
- Administer, maintain, and optimize Microsoft SQL Server and Azure SQL environments to ensure high performance and reliability.
- Manage database backups, restores, disaster recovery testing, and maintenance plans to safeguard data integrity and availability.
- Monitor database performance, availability, and storage, proactively identifying opportunities for optimization and efficiency improvements.
- Support Windows Server administration tasks, including patching, updates, and routine maintenance to ensure system stability.
- Maintain the stability and performance of both production and non-production environments, ensuring minimal downtime.
- Respond to infrastructure monitoring alerts, investigate incidents, and perform root cause analysis to prevent recurrence.
- Implement cybersecurity measures by applying secure configurations, ensuring patch compliance, and managing access controls.
- Produce and maintain comprehensive technical documentation and operational procedures for ongoing support and knowledge sharing.
- Collaborate closely with infrastructure, software engineering, and IT teams to deliver platform enhancements and improvements.
- Participate in an out-of-hours support rota to address critical incidents outside regular working hours.
