What You’ll Be Doing
Design, configure, and operate highly available database and data storage systems that support critical platform and business services Drive reliability, performance, scalability, and operational excellence across database and data platform environments Lead platform improvement initiatives from design through deployment and ongoing production support Monitor, optimise, and automate database operations to improve resilience, availability, and efficiency Identify and address technical debt, capacity constraints, performance bottlenecks, and operational risks across the data platform Support the reliability of data pipelines and services by ensuring underlying storage and database layers are scalable, performant, and well-governed Participate in incident response, root cause analysis, and continuous improvement activities to strengthen platform stability Collaborate with engineers and data specialists to share knowledge, improve standards, and evolve platform capabilities

What We’re Looking For
You’ll bring strong experience operating and improving production database or data platform systems, with a proven ability to own services end-to-end and drive improvements in reliability, performance, and operability. You’re comfortable making technical decisions, balancing factors such as performance, scalability, security, cost, and long-term sustainability.
You’ll have a solid understanding of database design, performance optimisation, and reliability engineering principles, alongside experience with monitoring, observability, alerting, and incident management practices. An understanding of data platforms, data pipelines, and how data supports analytics and business services is also important.
