Role: Datacenter and AV Engineer Specialist
Location: Romsey-onsite
This is a vital role supporting a UK-based engineering team and the role will provide you the opportunity to be the main IT support engineer with Data center experience. The role involves providing IT support to a team of 100 Developers, ranging from deskside to server infrastructure. This is a very hands-on role so requires somebody who enjoys all-round IT work. You will work within a group of geographically dispersed engineers to support end-to-end IT infrastructure for both existing and future business requirements.
Key Requirements for the role:
- Experience in an IT support role, ideally within R&D environments but not essential.
- Strong knowledge of Supporting and Troubleshooting Windows Client and Server operating systems (Latest & Legacy).
- Familiarity with the network protocols, network systems, DNS, DHCP & Active Directory.
- Strong understanding of Microsoft products, software lifecycle methodology, and information systems development.
- Racking, cabling, and installation, and support of hardware: Networking equipment, servers/workstations, desktops, games consoles, phones, etc.
- Configuration and deployment of custom OS images and additional software, as needed, to servers, PC’s and devices mainly using Microsoft deployment products such as WDS and SCCM.
- Asset Tracking & Maintaining Inventory.
- Experience in virtual environments, preferably with Hyper-V and System Center Suite.
- Provide customer service and specific AV assistance to customers including AV troubleshooting and operational assistance.
- Provide in-depth Break/Fix AV maintenance.
- Assist in maintenance and repair of AV equipment through third-party vendor relationships.
- Maintain neat appearance of AV cables and equipment.

Key Responsibilities:
- Racking equipment & provisioning hardware as/when required (Servers, Network hardware).
- Patch panel cabling.
- Wireless Technologies – Familiarity and support.
- Configuration and deployment of OS images to servers, desktops, and devices using Microsoft deployment products such as WDS & SCCM.
- Installing peripherals and components (GPUs, Disks, NICs, Memory).
- Active Directory Object Management.
- GPO Creation and Management.
- WSUS Setup and Management.
- File Server & DFS Setup and Management.
- Break fix of Servers, desktops, laptops, devices & peripherals.
- Troubleshooting performance issues on systems (Servers and custom-built workstations).
- Tuning systems to get maximum performance.
- Liaising with OEM partners for support and tracking right through to resolution.
- Tracking all hardware in central asset database.
- Tracking Maintenance & Renewal (M&R) contracts for all hardware assets.
- Software tracking in Asset DB.
- Microsoft Enterprise Software – Operating Systems (current and legacy), Office, System Center Suite, and other Microsoft software.
