Day Technician - Data Centre

We are seeking an experienced Day Technician to join a high-performing engineering team within a mission-critical data centre environment. This role is responsible for delivering planned and reactive maintenance across critical mechanical and electrical infrastructure, ensuring maximum reliability, compliance, and operational uptime.

Working for a leading facilities management provider on behalf of a confidential hyperscale client, you'll play a key role in maintaining world-class standards across a state-of-the-art critical facility.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance on critical building services equipment.
  • Operate and maintain mechanical and electrical systems including UPS, generators, HVAC, CRAC/CRAH units, switchgear, and BMS.
  • Support specialist contractors and oversee maintenance activities to ensure compliance with site procedures.
  • Diagnose faults and carry out repairs to minimise downtime and maintain operational resilience.
  • Complete all maintenance records, reports, and documentation accurately using the site's CAFM system.
  • Ensure all work is completed in accordance with health and safety legislation, site procedures, and permit-to-work systems.
  • Participate in testing, inspections, and statutory compliance activities.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives and contribute to improving system reliability and efficiency.
  • Work collaboratively with engineering colleagues and client representatives to deliver exceptional service.

Candidate Profile

  • Recognised qualification in Electrical, Mechanical, or Building Services Engineering.
  • Previous experience within a critical facilities, data centre, healthcare, pharmaceutical, or other mission-critical environment.
  • Strong knowledge of building services maintenance and critical M&E infrastructure.
  • Familiarity with safe systems of work, permits, risk assessments, and compliance processes.
  • Ability to fault-find, prioritise workloads, and work independently.
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills.
  • A proactive approach with a strong focus on safety, quality, and customer service.
