As a Day Fitter at Arriva, you will be responsible for the routine maintenance, inspection, and repair of our fleet of buses to ensure their safe and reliable operation throughout the day.
- Perform scheduled preventative maintenance checks and inspections on buses, including engines, transmissions, braking systems, steering, electrical systems, and bodywork.
- Diagnose and rectify mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic faults efficiently and effectively.
- Conduct roadside assistance and recovery when required, ensuring minimal disruption to services.
- Carry out routine servicing, including oil changes, filter replacements, and lubrication.
- Identify and report any major defects or persistent issues to the workshop supervisor.
- Maintain accurate records of all maintenance and repair work performed.
- Adhere to all health and safety regulations, company policies, and environmental standards.
- Work collaboratively with other technicians and operational staff to ensure fleet availability.
- Keep the workshop and work areas clean, tidy, and organized.

Job Qualifications

- A recognized apprenticeship or equivalent qualification in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance, Automotive Engineering, or a related field.
- Proven experience as a Fitter or Mechanic, preferably within a commercial vehicle or bus environment.
- Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills for mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems.
- Proficiency in using diagnostic equipment and workshop tools.
- A full, clean UK Driving Licence is essential; a PCV (Category D) licence is highly desirable, or willingness to obtain one.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent communication skills and attention to detail.
- Flexibility to work various shifts, which may include weekends and public holidays, as required by operational needs.
