We’re looking for a skilled Day Fitter to join our engineering team at Arriva. You’ll play a key role in keeping our bus fleet safe, reliable, and ready for service by carrying out planned maintenance, inspections, and repairs. If you’re an experienced heavy vehicle technician who takes pride in quality workmanship and enjoys working as part of a supportive team, we’d love to hear from you. What you’ll be doing Carrying out routine preventative maintenance, inspections, and servicing on buses Diagnosing and repairing mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic faults Working on key vehicle systems including engines, transmissions, brakes, and suspension Completing repairs and component replacements using appropriate tools and diagnostic equipment Preparing vehicles for MOT and regulatory inspections, including pre-MOT checks Accurately recording all maintenance and repair work Following health & safety regulations and company policies at all times Working closely with colleagues and reporting issues to supervisors Taking part in ongoing training to keep up to date with new vehicle technologies What we’re looking for A recognised apprenticeship or equivalent qualification in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance, Automotive Engineering, or similar Proven experience as a Fitter / Technician on heavy goods vehicles (bus or coach experience desirable) Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills across mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems Confidence using workshop tools and diagnostic equipment A full UK driving licence (PCV preferred, or willingness to obtain) A team player with the ability to work independently when required High attention to detail and pride in delivering quality work Flexibility to support occasional overtime or weekend work if required Why join Arriva?
