# Senior Care Assistant – The Ferns (Personal Care)
Location: The Ferns, Osborne Gardens, North Shields, Tyne & Wear NE29 9AT Hours: 44 hours Salary: £13.70 per hour (33 Hours/Week. Days and alternate weekends) Note: Visa Sponsorship is not available for this role.
About The Role
We’re looking for an experienced Senior Care Assistant eager to use their expertise to support residents in person-centred care while leading junior team members.
As a Senior Care Assistant at Roseberry Care, you’ll provide direct hands-on support to residents and take a leadership role in ensuring high standards of care. This includes supervising junior staff, mentoring team members, and upholding our ethical commitments to residents’ dignity, independence, and well-being.
Your Responsibilities
- Assist residents with personal care (washing, dressing, toileting, etc.).
- Promote dignity, independence, and individual rights of residents.
- Supervise and support junior care staff and mentor new team members.
- Monitor residents’ health conditions and report changes to senior staff/management.
- Communicate effectively—ensure residents feel respectful and heard.
- Maintain a safe, clean, and compliant care environment under health/safety regulations.

Must Have Experience & Qualifications
- Proven experience as a Senior Care Assistant (or similar role in a care home environment).
- NVQ Level 3 in Health & Social Care (or currently studying towards it).
- Strong leadership and communication skills to manage teams effectively.
- Genuine passion for elderly care, mentorship, and team development.
