Day Services Practitioner – Dementia Day Service (Greenock)


About the Role

Contract: Flexible, Permanent, 1 Position Location: Greenock

Do you want to make a difference to the lives of people living with dementia in Inverclyde?

We are seeking passionate and dedicated individuals to join our dementia-specific day service team in Greenock. Our day services are personalised, tailored to each individual’s preferences and needs, with a focus on therapeutic activities that support skill retention and independence. The Greenock service runs Monday to Friday.

Our Day Services Practitioners are at the heart of our approach. You will deliver frontline support while fostering meaningful connections, engagement, and independence for individuals we support.


Role Responsibilities

  • Provide compassionate, person-centred support to those living with dementia
  • Use your positive attitude, communication skills, and empathy to engage with individuals
  • Help individuals stay connected to their communities, interests, and hobbies
  • Facilitate peer support opportunities
  • Develop, lead, and innovate therapeutic activities to promote brain health and maintain cognitive skills
  • Assist in activities that enhance emotional well-being, independence, and overall dignity
  • Collaborate with a team to ensure a consistent, welcoming, and enriching day service experience

Requirements

Essential:

  • A caring attitude and a positive approach to dementia support
  • Strong communication skills (verbal and written)
  • Willingness to undertake training (including SVQ-level qualifications where applicable)
  • UK right to work eligibility
  • Successful PVG (Protecting Vulnerable Groups) disclosure check through Disclosure Scotland
  • Registration or willingness to register with the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC)

Advantageous:

  • Prior experience or qualifications working with dementia or older adults benefits
  • Basic knowledge of therapeutic activity design is a plus but not mandatory
