Dayshift Engineer

Engineer (Day Shift)

Location: Huntingdon Salary: Competitive Shift: 4 on, 4 off


About the Role

Hilton Foods are looking for an Engineer to provide Engineering support across all factory areas. Reporting to the Engineer Manager, you will ensure that all breakdowns, PPM (Preventative Maintenance), and improvement work are carried out to the required standards.


Responsibilities

As an Engineer, your key duties will include:

  • Diagnosing all faults and implementing remedial action to the required standard.
  • Proposing improvements to equipment to enhance reliability and efficiency.
  • Attending PIT (Production Improvement Team) meetings on lines to improve Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) in collaboration with production teams.
  • Dismantling and re-assembling production equipment in a timely manner.
  • Completing job report sheets for all work undertaken.
  • Filling out breakdown reports for all maintenance carried out.
  • Ensuring parts are correctly booked out of stores in the required format.
  • Assisting in the installation and commissioning of new equipment where necessary.
  • Contributing to any special projects that may arise.
  • Working with contractors as required.
  • Adhering to all hygiene and health and safety rules.
  • Performing any reasonable additional duties as assigned.
  • Conducting fabrication work across the business.
  • Maintaining and developing a culture of continuous improvement in the factory.
  • Supporting the company’s risk management strategy.

Requirements

To succeed in this role, you should have:

  • A recognised apprenticeship to ONC/HNC level (or equivalent), with a proven track record in electrical control (e.g., PLCs, contactors, relays, safety circuits), alongside mechanical and electrical experience.
  • Strong electrical knowledge and skills.
  • Prior experience in a food production environment.
  • The ability to work independently while also contributing effectively within a team.
