Daytime Concierge

Daytime Concierge

Location: Rotherhithe SE16, London

Salary: From £28,000 to £36,000.00 per annum (depending on experience)

Hours: Shift pattern of 7:00am to 7:00pm, working 4 days on and 4 days off


About the Role

The Daytime Concierge ensures the smooth running of the property while upholding the security, safety, and compliance of residents and common areas. This role requires a smart, courteous, observant, and service-oriented individual who is committed to assisting all stakeholders effectively.


Key Responsibilities

Building & Resident Safety

  • Prioritise the security of the building and the safety of residents.
  • Familiarise yourself with all residents to assist in identifying strangers.
  • Conduct regular security patrols of the estate and ensure:
    • Internal fire, entrance, and exit doors remain closed.
    • Obstructions (prams, bicycles, hazardous materials) are removed from common areas.

Administrative & Logistics

  • Respond to telephone calls swiftly, log deliveries, and manage general enquiries.
  • Maintain a central daily logbook documenting:
    • Visitor records, delivery logs, emergency response actions, and security patrols.
    • Any health and fire safety issues reported to the Managing Agent.
  • Record monthly emergency lighting tests.
  • Inspect and replace defective bulbs in common parts. Report faults to the Managing Agent.
  • Check and report faults in:
    • Door locks, closers, and entry systems.
    • Ground-level drains and gullies (report major blockages).

Resident Compliance & Maintenance

  • Ensure residents adhere to lease regulations, including:
    • Prohibited items in common parts (e.g., hanging laundry, noise violations).
  • Conduct monthly checks on emergency lighting and record results.
  • Keep the concierge front desk clean, free of combustible materials, and well-stocked with:
    • Light bulbs, cleaning supplies, stationery, and gym/household items (orders placed by the Managing Agent).

Contractor & Emergency Liaison

  • Support contractors with:
    • Keys, location information, and site background knowledge.
    • Entering attendance into the daily log.
    • Coordination of emergency works under Licence to Alter requirements.
  • Facilitate service contractors’ visits, particularly in emergencies, prioritising resident safety.
  • Notify the Managing Agent of:
    • Repairs/maintenance requiring working hour restrictions.
    • Any works needing a Licence to Alter.

Additional Duties

  • Liaise with the out-of-hours team on contractor instructions.
  • Assess resident-reported issues; escalate to the Managing Agent as necessary.
  • Monitor building maintenance safety and comply with all regulations.
  • Manage resident parcel deliveries.

Required Skills

  • Excellent written and verbal communication
  • Professional telephone manner
  • Strong time management and organisational skills
  • Previous experience as a concierge or similar property management role (essential)
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure in emergency situations
  • Knowledge of building safety regulations and lease compliance preferred
