We are delighted to open applications for a Daytime Emergency Nurse to join our exceptional team at Blaise Veterinary Referrals. Located in Longbridge, Birmingham, our veterinary hospital is one of the largest multidisciplinary referral hospitals in the UK. With state of the art equipment to treat up to 10,000 pets a year, our brilliant team provide the very best veterinary care and support to clients, pets and referring vets. Our veterinary referral services include Anaesthesia & Analgesia, Cardiology, Diagnostic Imaging, ECC, Internal Medicine, Interventional Radiology, Neurology, Oncology, Orthopaedics & Soft Tissue Surgery.

At Blaise, we have a specialist-led 24-hour emergency and critical care service in partnership with Vets Now, providing out of hours and emergency pet care for Birmingham and surrounding areas.

How You’ll Make a Difference

As a Daytime Emergency Nurse, you will deliver advanced nursing care within our busy emergency service, supporting the management of complex cases within an emergency setting.

You’ll work collaboratively within a large team, contributing specialist nursing expertise to patient care, supporting clinical decision-making, and sharing knowledge with colleagues to continually improve standards within your discipline.

This role will give you the opportunity to deal with a wide range of emergency and critical care cases and monitor patients from our referral services. Your role will include:

Working Pattern

40hrs/week 4 on/4 off shift pattern Early shift is 06:00-17:25, late shift is 11:00-22:25 Weekends and bank holidays are included as part of your general rotation due to this being a 24/7 emergency service

Key Responsibilities

Emergency triage and procedure nursing. Inpatient care within our ICU, general and isolation wards. Monitoring anaesthesia of emergency surgeries.

You Might Be a Great Fit If...

You are an experienced Registered Veterinary Nurse with a strong interest in emergency cases and a passion for inpatient care. You’ll bring:

Registration as a Veterinary Nurse with the RCVS Significant experience in clinical practice with advanced nursing skills in OOHs, inpatient care and/or ECC Experience working with complex emergency cases in a hospital setting Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary teams A commitment to evidence-based practice, clinical governance, and continuous improvement
