Deal Origination Director
Deal Origination Lead (Director-level Opportunity – Corporate Finance, Business Development)
Location: Leeds or Sheffield Compensation: £70,000 – £100,000 per annum + uncapped bonus opportunities (Full reward package discussed during application)

The Opportunity
We seek a commercially minded, relationship-driven professional to join our Corporate Finance team in a newly created Deal Origination Lead role.
This is not a traditional sales role: Instead, it’s about: ✔ Building trusted relationships ✔ Spotting opportunities early ✔ Creating high-impact advisory work ✔ Contributing to scalable origination framework
You’ll collaborate with region-leading Corporate Finance professionals, connecting ambitious business owners, investors, and intermediaries with the expertise they need to advance their growth strategies.
Key Responsibilities
Strategy & Leadership:
- Lead and refine our Corporate Finance new business origination strategy, targeting:
- Owner-managed businesses
- Investors
- Management teams
- Intermediaries
- Wider BHP Group opportunities
- Develop and execute a sophisticated origination engine, leveraging technology for scalability.

Relationships & Networking:
- Actively represent the firm in the market through:
- In-person networking events
- Industry conferences
- Client-facing meetings
- Monitor sector trends, deal movements, and emerging opportunities.
Outreach & Pipeline Development:
- Design and execute targeted outreach campaigns, using:
- Market intelligence
- Sector expertise
- Recent deal feedback
- Develop personalised approaches for stakeholders, from initial contact to handover to advisory teams.
- Maintain a high-quality pipeline, analysing performance and sharing insights to shape future growth.
Collaboration & Growth:
- Work closely with Partners, sector teams, and Marketing to:
- Maximise market visibility
- Facilitate introductions
- Align with strategic growth initiatives
What You’ll Bring
Ideal Experience & Skills
(Proven track record in a relationship-led, high-value B2B environment preferred—such as:)

Corporate Finance / Private Equity / Business Advisory / Accountancy / B2B Consulting

Experience in originating and converting new business, with:
✔ Owner-managed businesses: Negotiating with CEOs, CFOs, and founders ✔ Investor interactions: Engaging with private equity and institutional stakeholders ✔ Commercial acumen: Understanding value creation and advisory ROI

Strategic networking & relationship-building

Bonus Experience (Not Mandatory but Helpful)
- Network depth within the UK mid-market; experience in Midlands/Northern marketplaces (advantage)
- Hands-on deal origination in M&A, transaction advisory, or financing
- Experience building or scaling up a business development function
- CRM / marketing automation tools: Knowledge of tools like Salesforce, HubSpot, or other CRM platforms

- A growing pipeline of high-value, firm-first deals
- Conversion of targets into long-term advisory relationships
- Strong cross-sector influencer network—founders, private equity firms, banks, lawyers, etc.
- Measurable revenue growth across Corporate Finance and wider BHP platforms
- A scalable, insight-driven origination process that future-proofs growth
