Job Opportunity for an Experienced Dealership Accountant

Are you an experienced Dealership Accountant looking for your next challenge? Premier Motors is seeking a commercially minded, detail-oriented professional to play a key role in the financial management of our busy dealership.

Role Overview

Reporting to the Dealer Principal, the Dealership Accountant role will be involved in:

  • Preparation of monthly divisional accounts for Retail meetings.
  • Day-to-day running of the finance function for our Isle of Wight operation.
  • Cash management functions.
  • Control of sales ledger, purchase ledger, and payroll.
  • Liaising with external advisers as appropriate.

Location

Based at Premier Motors, Newport, Isle of Wight within the accounts department, the role will suit a suitably experienced accountant who wants to take the lead on a dealership accounting role.

Other Duties

Other duties may be required of the post holder in addition to those listed above and below, to ensure that the requirements of the business are met at all times.

Salary and Hours

  • Salary: Dependent on experience, will be discussed at interview stage.
  • Hours: Monday to Friday - 8.00 am to 5.00 pm or 9.00 am to 6.00 pm i.e. 40 hours per week with 1 hour lunch break (unpaid).

Key Responsibilities

  • Preparation of monthly management accounts.
  • Prepare regular and timely reports for Dealer Principal, managers, and retail Director on stocks and debtors.
  • Assist with the Group cash flow situation, credit control, debt collection, warranty claims, etc.
  • Prepare regular bank reports and forecasts.
  • Reconciliation, control, and correction of key balance sheet accounts.
  • Assist in the preparation of monthly and year-end accounts to a satisfactory level and in accordance with statutory and Company requirements.
  • Monitor and correct vehicle sales P&L accounts.
  • Monitor and control Reynolds & Reynolds/Power accounting package.
  • Control of payroll and associated reporting.
  • Ensure high standards of administration and record keeping in compliance with accounting practice and company procedures.

Ideal Candidate

We are looking for:

  • Reynolds & Reynolds/Power experience would be an advantage.
  • Strong spreadsheet knowledge to an advanced level.
  • Previous experience of completing VAT returns and other statutory returns.
  • Previous experience as a management accountant within the motor trade.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Flexible attitude and ability to adapt in a fast-moving environment.
