Director, Commercial Real Estate Financing

In this dynamic role, the Director of Commercial Real Estate Financing will play a critical role in securing financing for our high-profile projects across Europe and beyond.


Summary of the Position

The Director will provide essential analysis and financial modeling for various debt financing structures for ground-up development, acquisition, and in-portfolio properties. Key responsibilities include:

  • Assisting in the marketing and negotiation of commercial real estate loans with prospective lenders.
  • Ensuring strong interpersonal skills for collaboration with senior management and cross-functional teams.
  • Experience in cash flow analysis, underwriting, financial reporting, and commercial loans is essential.
  • Close collaboration with Acquisitions, Development, Asset Management, Leasing, Accounting, Property Management, Equity Capital Markets, and Design & Construction.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support senior team members during the loan marketing and closing process, including:
    • Preparation of financial analyses, internal management updates, and lender marketing materials.
    • Facilitating loan negotiation processes and lender communication.
  • Editial material with potential lenders, acting as the primary point of contact between lenders and senior management.
  • Proactively review existing loan portfolios and upcoming financing pipelines to identify opportunities.
  • Produce internal memoranda and research on commercial financing trends, loan portfolios, and market updates for senior management presentations.
  • Maintain awareness of European and UK real estate financing markets, regularly updating internal teams with newsletters and publications.

Skills & Qualifications

The ideal candidate must:

  • Strong quantitative and analytical skills with an ability to thrive in a fast-paced pan-European environment (working cross-functionally across France, UK, Germany, and Spain).
  • Detail-oriented, articulate, organized with initiative, problem-solving, and strategic thinking.
  • Ability to communicate data clearly and concisely in high-stakes settings.
  • 6-8 years of commercial real estate experience, with:
    • Hands-on experience in deb financing (marketing, structuring, negotiation, and closing of commercial real estate loans).
    • Proficient in financial modeling and Excel (advanced proficiency required).
    • Pan-European experience (either lending-side or borrower/equity-side) with strong negotiation skills.
  • Ability to:
    • Work independently and proactively, handle multiple tasks with tight deadlines.
    • Multitask and collaborate across multiple departments.
    • Build and maintain relationships with lenders, investors, and stakeholders.
    • Identify potential risks and propose mitigation strategies.
  • Strong ethical standards, ensuring transparency and integrity in financing dealings.
  • Proficiency required: Excellent oral and written English and French. German proficiency is a plus.
  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, economics, accounting, or quantitative fields, with demonstrated academic success.
