As a Debt Recovery Officer, you’ll play an important role in supporting the Council’s financial operations by helping to ensure outstanding debts are managed effectively and fairly. Working within our Finance Operations team, you’ll contribute to a customer-focused service that balances income recovery with understanding and support for our residents. This is a great opportunity to be part of a collaborative team where your work helps sustain vital services across West Northants.

What will you be doing?
- Manage a varied caseload, supporting the recovery of outstanding debts while ensuring a positive and professional experience for customers.
- Respond to queries, liaise with internal teams and external partners, and work through cases to reach effective resolutions in line with legislation and Council policies.
- Handle communications across different channels, maintain accurate records and contribute to the smooth running of end-to-end debt recovery processes.
- Support service improvements, work collaboratively with colleagues and play a role in strengthening customer-focused practices across the team.

About You
- Confident and organized individual who enjoys problem solving and working with people.
- Strong customer service approach, able to communicate clearly, manage sensitive situations and negotiate positive outcomes.
- Comfortable working with data, prioritizing your workload and maintaining accuracy in a fast-paced environment.
- Bring empathy, professionalism and a solutions-focused mindset, alongside the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
