Deck Trainee Apprentice – Are You Ready for an Adventure at Sea?

Join Stena Line and begin an exhilarating career at sea with our Skills Development Program under an Apprenticeship Agreement.

The Opportunity

As a Deck Trainee Apprentice, you’ll gain hands-on experience while honing technical expertise, practical skills, and interpersonal abilities—essential for a thriving maritime career.

The program merges real-world training with structured education, ensuring you develop proficiency in both settings.

Start Date: 21st September 2026

Must-Haves

Applicants must:

  • Be at least 18 years old by the application deadline
  • Have the right to work in the UK and be a UK resident
  • Demonstrated clear communication skills in both spoken and written English

Course Content

The training covers:

  • Maritime industry fundamentals
  • Deck operations & ship safety
  • Marin security practices
  • Literacy & numeracy development
  • Classroom-based essentials

Before joining our ferry, trainees must complete: ✅ Basic STCW (Standards of Training, Certification and Watchkeeping for Seafarers) ✅ An unrestricted ENG1 medical
