THE OPPORTUNITY – DECOMMISSIONING PORTFOLIO LEAD
- Responsible for leading the end-to-end management of the decommissioning liabilities from estimation, forecasting and reporting to financial booking as well as the review of the Decommissioning Securities Agreements (DSA)
- Ensure robust governance, accurate liability forecasting, and audit compliance.
- Acting as the Finance focal point for the Decommissioning & Wells team.
- Responsible for providing insight to support strategic planning and decision-making
- Location: Aberdeen
- Duration: 2-year contract
- Contract Type: PAYE
- Day Rate: TBC - For your application to be progressed, please ensure you provide a PAYE day rate banding expectation.

Spirit Energy currently have a non-contractual hybrid working arrangement for all office-based workers. 4 days must be worked in the office with compulsory days being Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. The fourth day worked in-office (either Monday or Friday) is of the worker’s choosing but should be in keeping with what is most efficient and effective for their team. The office is open 5 days a week for full time, in-office working if this is the contractor’s preference.

AND NOW FOR THE TECHNICAL BIT…
In role, you will be required to:
- Lead and deliver the annual Asset Retirement Obligation (ARO) submission, ensuring strong data quality, governance compliance, and successful audit validation.
- Support half year and year end group reporting on decom matters.
- Create a revised fit for purpose ARO process, ensure audit-ready documentation, controls, and supporting evidence packs, lead and deliver audit internal & external
- Decommissioning Portfolio Ownership - Drive portfolio-level cost forecasting and control for decommissioning programmes, ensuring audit-ready reporting and alignment with corporate and regulatory requirements.
- Update the Decom timeline and associated accounting adjustments i.e. ST/LT discounting etc
- Provide expert guidance on decommissioning project cost reporting, ensuring Spirit Energy and project management compliance and governance are effectively managed.
- Ensure monthly VOWD and accrual reporting is completed in accordance with SE financial reporting standards.
- Non-Operated Assets ABEX Forecasting and Reporting - Support the Decommissioning Director in reviewing partner billings against partner forecasts and budget plans, identifying variances and escalating issues where appropriate.
- Review and report on operated and non-operated asset DSA activity in collaboration with Commercial and Finance teams.
- Coordinate UK Decommissioning Stewardship Surveys and associated regulatory submissions.
- Own and maintain the decommissioning forecasting in bpc working closely with the Business Partnering Lead and the Reporting & Analysis Lead
- Update & review DSA models (for operated, non-operated and legacy assets) in collaboration with Commercial ensuring models comply with agreements and update/rebuild where required

ABOUT YOU
To be successful in this role, we are looking for:
- Awareness and understanding of relevant Accounting standards relating to ARO
- Project cost control
- Finance systems, in particular SAP and BPC
- Liabilities process
- Qualified accountant (ACA, CA, ACCA, CIMA)
- University degree
