Decorator
EQUANS are recruiting for an Decorator to be based in Crewe. This is a permanent full-time role working 40 hours per week. On offer is a competitive salary and benefits package.
General Overview
Equans deliver a comprehensive and quality service to our multi-sector customers across the UK. We provide a 24/7 reactive/planned preventative maintenance service for technical building services and undertake some specialist Project work involving plant replacements and refurbishments of commercial properties and well as undertaking condition improvement maintenance works.
The role is suited to someone who has high professional quality standards who recognise the need to focus on the client and customer requirements. They will plan and prioritise work within recognised safe systems and in accordance with all aspects of health and safety legislation and undertake decorating maintenance activities aligned to best practice. They will participate in a team approach to the allocation of duties, supporting and working effectively with colleagues to provide good working relationships within the service.
This will require an experienced person with presence, commitment, exceptional management competencies and communication skills to ensure that the contracts financial budgets, quality, health & safety and operational commitments are met and exceeded.
Key Accountabilities
Carry out efficient and cost-effective painting and decorating work as instructed. Remove the existing paintwork and prepare the surface by “rubbing down” and (where necessary) “filling” to give a smooth surface upon which to apply paint. Apply a range of paint products, one primer, one undercoat and one gloss by brush and roller to walls, ceilings, doors and timber sections in accordance with design specifications and manufacturer’s instructions. Remove existing wall coverings by steaming and/or scraping to prepare walls or ceilings for papering. Wallpapering walls and ceilings in accordance with design specifications and manufacturer’s instructions. Apply spray painted finishes to walls and ceilings in accordance with design specifications and manufacturer’s instructions. Prepare and apply one coat of varnish, sealer, bitumen, read lead, stain to surface as necessary, in accordance with manufacturer’s instructions. Prepare and apply emulsion, eggshell, masonry paint in accordance with manufacturer’s instructions. Carry out works within the Painting and Decorating Craft as instructed by Team Leaders/Management Completion and timely submission of appropriate documentation. Ensure that standards and quality of work produced is in accordance with best practice and is fit for purpose. Be involved in apprentice training. To carry out any other ad hoc duties as instructed by the Minor Works Team Leader - Painting Other reasonable activities as necessary

Who are we looking for?
Qualifications
NVQ L2 qualification or equivalent in Painting and Decorating Experiencing working in the construction industry undertaking decorating activities.
Skills And Abilities
Ability to work unsupervised and as a team member. Ability to carry/erect/climb and regularly work on access equipment, in accordance with safe systems of work. Ability to work in confined spaces. Ability to understand and carry out verbal/written instructions. Ability to liaise and work with clients and members of the public. Ability to work in inclement weather. Ability to work overtime if required. Ability to travel between the depot and work locations.
