Job Description & Summary
About the Role:
A career within Defence Consulting will provide you with the opportunity to work alongside Defence sector leaders within MoD and Industry to solve their toughest problems and realise their greatest opportunities. We work with MoD departments and agencies, defence primes and mid-tiers and start-ups to understand their unique issues and opportunities in an ever-changing environment.
As a Senior Manager, you will lead large-scale transformation programmes within Defence, working with client leaders to deliver tangible frontline benefits and enable wider enterprise transformation across defence. Specifically, in the Defence sector our remits include organisational transformation, digital enablement, driving productivity and efficiency; and the delivery of new capability.

As a Senior Manager, you'll lead a team of problem solvers, helping to solve complex issues using a range of skills and methodologies.
What your days will look like:
- Reporting to the Partner and Director team, you will have responsibility for managing client projects, structuring the work schedule and driving each assignment to a successful conclusion
- Managing the design and delivery of large-scale Defence transformation programmes, from mobilisation and business case through deployment, go-live and post-implementation optimisation
- Leading operating model, care pathway and workforce transformation, with a clear focus on improving frontline productivity, safety and user adoption
- Contributing to the development of the Defence digital transformation market, identifying opportunities, shaping propositions and supporting bids
- Helping to grow our multi-specialism Enterprise Transformation and Defence teams, developing tools, methods and assets that support successful delivery and adoption at scale
- Leading engagement economics, governance, risk and issue management, and delivery assurance across complex programmes
- Owning senior stakeholder relationships across Defence leadership, teams and alliance partners, building trusted advisor relationships

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
