Delegate Sales Executive

Emap (Metropolis Group) – Emerald Division, East Croydon Employment Type: Full-time, Permanent/Hybrid Salary: £21,000–£26,000 + 30% bonus potential

About the Role

The Delegate Sales Executive will drive sales for emap’s portfolio of high-profile B2B events, including the Retail Industry Awards, Duty Free Frontier, Money Marketing Interactive, Motor Trader Industry Awards, and more.

You’ll work autonomously to generate award entries, secure event registrations, and exceed revenue targets in a collaborative sales environment.

Our success depends on your ability to build relationships, exceed targets, and deliver exceptional customer service.


Overall Purpose

You’ll proactively outreach potential clients via phone and email, convert leads into event registrations and award submissions, and collaborate with marketing teams to grow business. Your focus will be on:

✔ Driving delegate and sponsor revenue ✔ Maintaining and expanding industry relationships ✔ Meeting and exceeding quarterly/annual sales targets ✔ Working across multiple brands to ensure consistent performance


Key Responsibilities

Sales & Outreach

  • Conduct outbound calling and email campaigns to drive event entries, sponsorships, and attendance
  • Follow up on inbound enquiries, log all interactions, and convert them into booked registrations
  • Develop sales strategies for large and small events based on market research
  • Attend events as required to network, present opportunities, and gather insights

Relationship Management

  • Build and nurture relationships with senior industry executives to secure repeat business
  • Collaborate with brand teams to understand audience needs and tailor outreach
  • Maintain a high-touch approach to client retention and expansion

Reporting & Performance

  • Generate weekly/monthly sales reports to track performance vs. targets (including YoY comparisons)
  • Monitor revenue generation across the portfolio, prioritising high-opportunity leads
  • Contribute to strategic market research to identify new business prospects

Admin & Compliance

  • Use email merge tools and CRM systems (e.g., Outlook, Excel) to manage outreach
  • Ensure 100% accuracy in all communications (emails, phone calls, proposals)
  • Adhere to data protection laws (GDPR) when handling client information

Skills & Experience

Essential

  • 1+ years’ full-time sales experience in B2B (preferably in media, events, or retail sectors)
  • Commercial telephone experience (outbound calling, consultative selling)
  • Strong ability to communicate at senior executive level (both verbal and written)
  • Self-motivated with excellent organisation skills and the ability to work under pressure
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams, PowerPoint)
  • Relationship-building skills – ability to engage while delivering exceptional customer service

Desirable

  • Prior experience in event sales, sponsorship, or award programmes
  • Knowledge of market research techniques for identifying new business
  • Fluency in another language
  • Runtime analysis experience (identifying sales trends to target high-value prospects)
