Job Summary
Play a key role in the Delegated Authority Centre of Excellence (DA CoE) team, managing the Group’s Delegated Authority (DA) portfolio across all relationship types, including:
- MGAs (Managing General Agents)
- Binders
- Lineslips and consortiums
Key Responsibilities
Your role will focus on:
- Oversighting DA operations, compliance, administration, governance across the Group
- Supporting and driving the DA strategy in collaboration with DA Oversight and underwriting teams
- Membership on the DA Underwriting Committee (DAUC) and ownership of the DA ‘virtual’ P&L
- Building strong relationships with underwriters, Head of DA CoE, and Head of DA Oversight
Main Duties
Strategic Oversight & Development
- Design and implement an underwriting-focused DA framework across the Group
- Drive cross-selling of products via MGAs
- Shape the Group-wide DA strategy, align it across lines of business, and ensure continuous improvement
Operations & Performance Management
- Proactively support onboarding of new DA business, working with underwriters
- Monitor ‘best practices’ and compliance in DA underwriting
- Develop and maintain MI, data, and analysis ambitions for the DA portfolio

Financial & P&L Responsibilities
- Implement and oversee ‘virtual’ P&Ls at Group, entity, and divisional levels
- Conduct mid-year assessments of MGA (and other placement methods) performance, compliance, and best practice
Committee & Committee Stewarding
- Lead the DA Underwriting Committee (DAUC) and its Working Group
- Coordinate recommendations from DAUC with underwriters, Governance Committee, and Senior Leadership
Regulatory & Broker Engagement
- Attend broker and client meetings to build and maintain strong relationships
- Collaborate with Pricing and Exposure Management teams to enhance aggregate monitoring
- Work with the Innovation team on MGAs and DA methods of placements
Training, Training & In Regulatory Matters
- Support and contribute to the DA training program
- Assist with Lloyd’s/PBO and Central Bank of Ireland (CBI) matters for active underwriters
- Develop internal training materials and attend external regulatory training
Regulatory Responsibilities
Compliance with all Group policies, procedures, and regulations:
- Lloyd’s Byelaws and Minimum Standards
- Financial Conduct Authority (FCA/KY)/PRA requirements (UK regulatory landscape)
- Central Bank of Ireland (Irish regulator) obligations
- Chaucer’s Product Governance processes (within the UCM framework)
Ensure the fair treatment of customers and good customer outcomes.

Relevant Experience & Qualifications
✔ Insurance knowledge from a Lloyd’s, Syndicate, or MGA/Managing Agent context is essential ✔ Knowledge of Lloyd’s DA regulations, particularly binders and managing general agents ✔ Preference for experience *across multiple insurance lines of business ✔ ACII certification is highly desirable ✔ Familiarity with DCOM & ATLAS (industry systems used within Lloyd’s)
Key Personal & Technical Skills
Technical
- Strong Excel and PowerPoint competencies for presentations
- Analytical mindset with a strategic approach
- Ability to handle large-scale policy datasets and financial modelling
Soft Skills
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills
- Exceptional communication skills (built on-board all levels of the organization)
- Capable of working in a fast-paced and pressurized environment
