Delegated Credit Control Technician

The Opportunity
As a Credit Control Officer, you will join Markel Group’s Delegated Credit Control Team within the Underwriting Support Services department. This is an ideal position for ambitious professionals seeking hands-on experience in insurance credit control, with full training provided.
While prior experience in insurance credit control is advantageous, it is not essential. Familiarity with the London insurance market will be beneficial but is not required.
Markel is a global leader in insurance, reinsurance, and specialist advisory services, and your role plays a critical part in optimising revenue flow and supporting seamless operations.
Responsibilities
Core Duties
- Ensure timely premium collection by liaising with brokers and coverholders, maintaining detailed follow-up records within internal systems.
- Investigate variances between written and signed premiums, reconciling differences on bordereaux to limit disputes and maintain accurate accounts.
- Collaborate with underwriting teams to resolve problem accounts, troubleshoot declining premiums, and identify discrepancies in settled funds.
- Monitor and resolve bureau rejections by coordinating with internal and third-party stakeholders, ensuring no delays in premium processing.
- Work on direct settlements reconciliation, allocating funds accurately and submitting LPANs to Xchanging for Syndicate 3000 classified transactions.
- Play an active role in achieving team targets and KPIs, balancing independence with teamwork for operational success.

What We Require (Essential)
✔ Willingness to learn – We’ll train you thoroughly in credit control processes from the ground up. ✔ Strong communication and organisational skills – Key for optimizing middle-office operations. ✔ Numerical aptitude and problem-solving skills – Need to reconcile variances and handle disputed transactions with analytical precision.
Preferred (But Not Mandatory)
🔹 Experience in credit control, finance, or accounting – Strongly advantageous but not necessary. 🔹 Familiarity with Lloyd’s premium processing – Including EDI messaging, IMR, or LPAN submissions (training provided if new). 🔹 Understanding of delegated authority structures – Familiarity with binders, lineslips, and consortia operations is a bonus. 🔹 Insight into the London insurance market – Exposure to underwriting, brokerage, or syndicate operations would help.
