Delivery Consultant — Flexible / Part-Time Hours (US Defence Account)

There's a version of recruitment where you keep everything you're good at, sourcing hard-to-find engineers, running clean processes, closing candidates and drop everything you're done with: cold BD, KPI theatre, and hours that don't fit your life anymore. That's this role.

The role:

We're looking for an experienced recruiter to focus purely on delivery for one of our key US Defence clients, a strategic partnership account with a steady pipeline of technical engineering roles. This is a role we're happy to shape around the right person: part-time, school hours, condensed days or flexible working patterns are all on the table. What matters is the quality of delivery, not when you're sat at a desk.

You'll:

  • Source and headhunt niche engineering talent across defence and advanced technology markets
  • Qualify thoroughly and run interview processes end to end — you already know how; you'll just do it without a BD target hanging over you
  • Work closely with one client's hiring managers, building the kind of embedded relationship most recruiters never get time for
  • Bring the judgement of an experienced recruiter to an account where getting it right matters

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Only hits

No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.

No business development. No new logos to chase. Your experience pointed entirely at filling roles well.

Why Hernshead:

Founded in 2019 on the belief that partnerships are more powerful than placements, we've grown to nearly £5m turnover, ranked on the Fast Growth 50, and won multiple awards including the Community Impact Award at the REC Awards 2025. Average length of service here is over three years — people stay because the business rewards them and respects how they work.

You'll be paid properly for delivery, with a commission scheme that recognises placements, not just business won. You'll still share in the upside. Our Share Scheme comes with a defined exit plan — flexible hours don't mean being cut out of what we're building. You'll work with serious people. The team includes £500k+ billers and the client demand to match, in a business that's scaling with intent.

Who this suits:

  • An experienced recruiter — agency or in-house — who's confident sourcing, qualifying and closing technical or hard-to-fill roles
  • Someone whose life has changed shape: young family, other commitments, a deliberate step back from the 360 grind — but whose standards haven't dropped an inch
  • Organised and self-sufficient: with flexible hours, you'll manage your own workload and the client will feel nothing but consistency
  • Interested in defence and advanced engineering, or sharp enough to learn the market quickly

If you've been waiting for a role that takes your experience seriously and fits around your life, this is worth a conversation. Tell us the hours that work for you and we'll start from there.
