About the Role
The Business Intelligence Manager holds accountability for the management and delivery of a comprehensive Business Intelligence program, ensuring reports support strategic business goals. This involves end-to-end ownership of a rolling programme of BI requests, collaborating with Data Engineering, Business Partnering, and Agile teams to deliver high-quality outputs on schedule.
Key responsibilities include:
- Shaping Power BI’s future roadmap across visual, reporting capabilities, and alignment with Boots Group’s technology/data strategy
- Partnering with leadership to define optimal ways of working, driving team efficiency and adoption
- Championing innovation, agile practices, governance, and stakeholder alignment across functions
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the development and delivery of BI solutions that inform business decisions
- Foster a data-driven culture with proactive ad hoc and regular reporting
- Promote innovation to build a best-in-class BI delivery team
- Own the BI reporting suite, ensuring clear, reliable, and consistent insights
- Leading the team, coaching to meet targets and fostering collaboration and innovation
- Liaise with Boots Group teams to ensure information alignment
- Deputy leadership for the department as needed
- Assess and recruit, manage, and develop team members
- Collaborate with leadership on agile processes, governance, and standards
- Work with columns, architects, and teams to influence roadmaps and delivery

Must-Have Requirements
- Proven track record leading or scaling a BI/reporting function
- Advanced Power BI expertise, including dashboard design, automation, DAX, and data modelling
- SQL proficiency, preferably with Azure or Databricks
- Strong experience collaborating with high-level stakeholders
- Solution-driven mindset for agile, evolving environments
- Data governance/security awareness — advantageous but essential
- Competent critical thinker with outstanding influence, leadership, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to balance competing demands, communicate with technical/non-technical stakeholders
Desired Skills & Experience
- Understanding of the retail sector
- Experience in outsourced environments, managing cross-functional workloads
- Exposure to data/analytics and agile (Scrum) frameworks
