# Permanent Delivery Manager Position
About the Role
We have a fantastic opportunity for a Permanent Delivery Manager to join our Structural Maintenance Scheme Delivery Team. This role is based within our Network Management Contract (Southwest) (NMC SW) in Polmadie, Glasgow.
Our NMC SW account is collaborating with Transport Scotland Southwest (since August 2020) and manages:
- Inspections
- Cyclical maintenance
- Asset management
- Scheme delivery
- Winter maintenance
- Incident response
As part of our team, you will ensure reliable journey times and high levels of customer care for 600+ kilometres of road and 1,650+ structures, delivering engineering design and operational services while enabling safe, smooth, and efficient travel.
The role ensures roadways and highways remain well-maintained throughout all weather conditions and help manage traffic disruptions, enhancing community safety and mobility.
Core Purpose
The Delivery Manager will lead the safe, efficient, and compliant delivery of works under the SW NMC account, including:
- Meeting statutory obligations
- Ensuring programme adherence, quality, and stakeholder alignment
Responsibilities
The role operates under a 40-hour workweek (Mon–Fri, 0800–1645hrs), with opportunities to earn overtime supporting weekend site supervision and occasional night shifts.
Key responsibilities include:
- Day-to-day delivery of highway and infrastructure works
- Fulfilling Principal Contractor duties under CDM Regulations
- Ensuring all operations comply with Health, Safety, and Environmental legislation
- Collaborating on the creation and review of:
- Construction Phase Plans
- Risk Assessments
- Method Statements
- Conducting site inspections, safety visits, and audits with follow-through to resolution
- Co-ordinating subcontractors and supply chain on site
- Monitoring programmes, resources, and costs to identify risks and improvement opportunities
- Managing client, local authority, stakeholder, and public liaisons effectively
- Ensuring projects meet specifications, standards, and quality expectations
- Maintaining accurate site records (diaries, permits, compliance documentation)
- Promoting Amey values, particularly with a strong “Safety First” culture
- Supporting CDM duties, workforce compliance, and proactive incident reporting
- Leading toolbox talks, briefings, and workforce engagement sessions
- Investigating and reporting incidents and near misses
- Collaborating with Health, Safety, Environment & Quality (HSEQ) Advisors to implement improvements

Requirements
This role suits candidates with:
- Experience in a similar role within highways or civil engineering
- Knowledge of CDM Regulations, highways safety, and site management practices
- A proactive approach, strong problem-solving, and initiative
- A collaborative mindset with quick engagement at all stakeholder levels
- Good commercial awareness and stakeholder management ability
- Strong IT skills (primarily Microsoft Office) alongside exemplary interpersonal abilities
- Full UK driving licence (essential)
- Relevant engineering degree or equivalent qualifications (desirable)
