About the Role

We have an exciting opportunity for a Permanent Delivery Manager to join our Structural Maintenance scheme delivery team within Network Management Contract Southwest (NMC SW), based in Polmadie, Glasgow.

Our NMC SW account partners with Transport Scotland and covers:

  • Inspections
  • Cyclical maintenance
  • Asset management
  • Scheme delivery
  • Winter maintenance
  • Incident response

The team manages 600+ kilometres of road and 1,650+ structures, delivering essential engineering and operational services. Their work ensures reliable journey times, safety, and minimal disruption—keeping roads functional across all weather conditions.


The purpose of this role is to deliver safe, compliant, and efficient workplace projects while meeting statutory obligations, stakeholder expectations, and schedules.

Shift Pattern & Hours

  • 40 hours per week (Mon-Fri, 0800–1645)
  • Additional site supervision opportunities (weekends and occasional night shifts) for overtime.

Ideal candidate: Civil engineering, construction, or term maintenance highways professional with experience managing Principal Contractor duties.


Key Responsibilities

Operational Delivery

  • Oversee and execute highway and infrastructure works
  • Ensure strict adherence to Health, Safety, and Environmental regulations
  • Maintain prohibition of illegal or unsafe practices

Compliance & Reporting

  • Prepare and review Construction Phase Plans, Risk Assessments, and Method Statements
  • Carry out site inspections and safety audits, ensuring follow-through on corrective actions
  • Monitor programme timelines, resources, and costs—identifying risks and opportunities
  • Record detailed site documentation, permits, and compliance files

Workforce & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Collaborate with subcontractors and supply chains
  • Uphold Amey’s 'Safety First' culture
  • Lead toolbox talks, briefings, and safety training
  • Investigate incidents and near misses
  • Engage with clients, local authorities, and stakeholders

Accountability

  • Ensure works meet Required standards and specifications
  • Drive CDM duties compliance
  • Work closely with HSEQ (Health, Safety, Environment & Quality) Advisors

Criteria for Success

Desired Experience & Skills

  • Proven experience in a highways, civil engineering, or term maintenance contracts role
  • CDM Regulations expertise
  • Strong problem-solving and proactive approach
  • Excellent stakeholder management
  • Strong commercial acumen and team collaboration skills
  • Microsoft Office Proficiency (Excel & reporting)
  • Full UK driving licence (essential)
  • Relevant engineering degree or equivalent (asset, but not mandatory)
